Café libraries and their role in developing Scientific Culture Bin Ridha Alwan Cafe as a model

Abstract

The research aims to identify the concept of café libraries and their

importance and role in spreading scientific culture, introducing the

most important cafes that include libraries in the world , the Arab

world, and Iraq, and explaining the role of Bin Ridha Alwan Cafe in

developing a scientific culture in Iraq and a cultural forum that seeks

to spread culture as well as presenting drinks. The researcher relied

on the survey method, a case study method, to collect data and know

the opinions of the pioneers of the Bin Ridha Alwan Cafe on the

necessity of the existence of café libraries. And the interview with

the owner of the cafe and the questionnaire, copies of which were

distributed to an occasional sample (100) of the cafe visitors who visited it during the period 20 / 1-20 / 2-2020, and (14) forms were

excluded from them due to lack of data integrity . Actual research

(86) questionnaires, and from the results of the research : Foreign and

Arab governments have been interested in providing libraries and

books in cafes and making them interactive platforms that bring

together intellectuals and readers under one roof and spread the

culture of reading for them . (74.42%) emphasized the importance of

having coffee shop libraries for several reasons, including making

use of the books and resources in the café, which may not be found

elsewhere. They prefer that there are cafes that contain libraries in

every residential neighborhood. Among the research

recommendations : Expanding the cafe building, opening more than

one branch, enriching it with modern books and resources, and

providing a strong net in the cafe. The government and the Iraqi

Ministries of Culture and Information are interested in cafes

throughout the country and implement development projects for the

presence of libraries and books in cafes.
