Cultural invasion and its reflection on marriage ceremonies a socio-anthropological study (Tikrit city as a model)

Abstract

The study aimed to shed light on the cultural invasion and its reflection on marriage ceremonies in the city of Tikrit. Marriage ceremonies are one of the most important occasions in human life, as they reflect the traditions and culture of society, but with the increasing cultural communication between peoples and the spread of media, marriage ceremonies have become greatly affected by other customs and traditions. This may be represented in choosing the wedding dress that follows the latest international fashion trends or eating food dishes from different cultures during the wedding or even in the use of modern photography techniques to document this important moment. However, this effect can raise some questions 1- What role does globalization plays in changing traditional concepts of marriage 2- What are the possible negative actions of society towards changes in marriage ceremonies. On preserving the cultural and private identity of society and how to balance respect for old traditions and the adoption of new customs, individuals must be careful and understanding of this influence and preserve aspects of tradition that distinguish them from others.
