The Role of Artificial Intelligence Programs in Assessing China's Approach to Latin America: GPT as a Case Study

Abstract

This study analyzes China's approach to Latin America from a strategic perspective, relying on artificial intelligence tools for assessment and understanding. It also explores the components of Chinese power in its political, economic, and military aspects. China has become a major player in the international system, driven by its ambitions to expand its sphere of influence and diversify its international partnerships. In this context, the approach to Latin America constitutes a fundamental dimension of its global strategy.

Conversely, the importance of Latin America for China lies in its rich natural resources, such as oil, minerals, and agricultural products, which the country needs to meet its growing needs. It also boasts vast consumer markets, making it a destination for Chinese investments in infrastructure, energy, and communications. Politically, Latin American countries provide China with an opportunity to gain new allies in international institutions, while strategically, they represent a platform for counterbalancing American influence in its own backyard. In the same context, China's motives revolve around ensuring energy security, diversifying trade partnerships, and strengthening its geopolitical position. However, it faces several challenges, most notably US pressure, the fragility of political systems in some countries on the continent, and economic obstacles related to debt and instability.
