Abstract

The study aimed to identify the role of artificial intelligence in automating news production and improving the quality of editing in Iraqi television channels.The research adopted the descriptive survey method as an appropriate approach to determine the respondents’ opinions. The researcher used a survey questionnaire to collect data, and the sample consisted of 80 participants, including journalists, editors, and technical directors working in the news departments of two Iraqi TV channels: Al-Anbar and UTV.The main findings of the study can be summarized as follows:

1. Moderate use of AI in automation, drafting, editing, and content management.

2. Noticeable improvement in editing quality in terms of accuracy, speed, and style.

3. Main obstacles: weak digital infrastructure, lack of skills, high costs, and legal challenges.

4. Limited journalists’ awareness, requiring training and knowledge support.

5.             AI complements journalism but cannot replace human creativity.
