Artificial Intelligence and Its Role in Reshaping the Conceptual Frameworks of Historical Research Methodology

This study examines the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on historical research methodology, exploring how advanced digital tools are revolutionizing the collection, processing, and reinterpretation of historical evidence. Utilizing a descriptive-analytical approach, it synthesizes recent scholarship in AI and the humanities, focusing on text-analysis techniques, automated data-extraction methods, and machine-learning models as critical adjuncts that empower historians to engage with both traditional archival materials and born-digital sources.
The findings demonstrate that AI significantly enhances efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in source analysis, uncovers previously hidden patterns and interconnections within large datasets, and facilitates the construction of richer, more contextually nuanced historical narratives.
Simultaneously, the study highlights pressing ethical concerns—including algorithmic bias, data quality limitations, and the risks of over-reliance on probabilistic outputs—underscored by the necessity of critical scrutiny, transparent protocols, and rigorous validation practices
